Indiana's Wierzba receives 2025-26 Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award
Rhet Wierzba, who has played a prominent role in the success of Teri Moren’s teams at Indiana University for the past 12 seasons, the last five as associate head coach, received the Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association here Friday morning.
Palisades Charter High School teams to be presented with USBWA Most Courageous Awards
The boys and girls basketball teams at Palisades Charter High School in California, who completed winning seasons while coping with the trauma of the January wildfires that destroyed much of their campus and left several players without their homes, have been named the winners of the 2025 Perry Wallace Most Courageous Award and 2025 Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Northeastern guard Kendall Currence is this year's Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award winner. The senior has demonstrated an intrepid spirit and a remarkable determination, undergoing more than a dozen surgeries after being born with a cleft lip and palate. She also has overcome having three holes in her heart, a heart murmur and a bicuspid aortic valve, according to the Boston Globe.
